The news came through this morning that the Over 30 side would be promoted to Division 3 of the OTH League, effective immediately. That reward is no less than the Briar deserved after a topsy turvy spring campaign came good down the stretch.
Let's not forget the work of the Committee and specifically Paul Glynn, who represented the club tremendously with the OTH board in overturning the F.F.C. result and earning us a replay that the players grasped with two hands.
The 4:0 victory in the rematch over F.F.C. proved the catalyst for a good run in the play-offs where the Briar narrowly missed out on the title.
Since taking over the team in Spring of 2011, Gary Keane has led his team to two promotions in three campaigns. An excellent record as manager from a talented player who has struggled with injuries in recent years. With Gary on the come back trail again, further advancement of this team is a tangible possibility, as the Briar go from strength to strength.
