Relieve Muscle Tightness After Games

For those of you that struggle with tight and sore muscles after games and you find that the regular warm down or stretching exercises are not enough for you to get relief, read this interesting article about how to use and the benefits of Foam Rollers.

On a similar point, read this article about DOMS, Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness which is usually felt 1 to 2 days after exercise.

Finally, the old reliable R.I.C.E. method is described in this article and the use of NSAID's to promote healing is discussed in this article.

  1. Michael,

Those are some great suggestions for pain relief and muscle tightness. To add further to the foam rollers, I would highly recommend those that have ridges to help in not only releasing the tight fascia, but also to break up the scar tissue that has no doubt been formed in muscles from years of repetitive injuries. The brand that I would recommend is Thera Roll. They are available at City Sports and Marathon Sports. I would not recommend getting anything higher than firm or purple-colored, as your IT Bands would not be able to tolerate it. And, lastly, as any physio would recommend, stretch daily!
